Ongoing queries: Interpretation of serology in asymptomatic or atypical chronic Q fever

SummaryChronic Q fever, predominantly associated with endocarditis, can develop insidiously. Although the diagnosis may be straightforward with a typical clinical presentation, incidental discovery of positive Coxiella burnetii serology poses a difficult clinical challenge. We describe the cases of two such patients and review the literature on the serological diagnosis of chronic Q fever.
