Staphylocoques à coagulase négative : quand, comment et pourquoi sont-ils responsables d'infections ?

Staphylococcus epidermidis and other coagulase-negative staphylococci (CoNS) species are major hospital-acquired pathogens. These opportunistic bacteria mainly cause device-associated sepsis, including catheter-related bloodstream infections, prostethic heart valve endocarditis, and surgical site infections. Colonization of the skin and mucosal surfaces and their ability to form a biofilm that allow evasion from the host's defenses are the leading mechanisms of CoNS virulence.
