Liposarcome dédifférencié du cæcum

Liposarcoma is a sarcoma of mesenchymal origin most commonly observed in adults. It accounts for 16-18% of malignant soft tissue tumors. Five histological types are described: well-differentiated liposarcoma, dedifferentiated liposarcoma, myxoid liposarcoma, round liposarcoma cell, pleomorphic liposarcoma. Dedifferentiated liposarcoma is a rare variant with an increased aggressiveness compared with other liposarcomas and many metastases are found at diagnosis. It is usually found in the retroperitoneum and extremities; localization in the colon is rare and exceptional in the lower cecum. The CT-scan is the examination of choice for the positive and differential diagnosis of this type of bimorphous liposarcoma with a paucy non-specific clinical presentation, but cannot match the accuracy of histology or immunohistochemistry. We present the case of a dedifferentiated liposarcoma with an unusual and exceptional primary localization in the cecum, to our knowledge not previously documented.
