Syndrome interstitiel

Interstitial syndrome is a radiological syndrome grouping together all signs of pulmonary impairment affecting the interstitium, the supporting connective tissue of the lung. Interstitial syndrome disease and diffuse interstitial lung disease (PID) are terms with different meanings. The interstitial lung structure is mainly affected in the PID, but not exclusively. In addition to the pulmonary interstitium, PID can affect all the other structures of the deep lung, including the alveoli, bronchioles and small vessels and also in some cases the other thoracic structures: pleura, respiratory muscles, heart and chest, with a potential impact on the lung. Interstitial involvement may be isolated or associated, concomitant or secondary to disease in other areas of the lung.
