L'appendagite épiploïque primitive

Primary epiploic appendagitis results from a torsion with subsequent ischemia or due to spontaneous venous thrombosis without torsion. We report a case in a 50-year-old man who consulted for abdominal pain associated with nausea without fever. Physical examination of the abdomen showed tenderness over the left lower quadrant. Abdominal CTscan showed an oval mass of fat density surrounded by a hyperattenuating peripheral rim and containing a central hyperdense band adjacent to the left colon. The diagnosis of epiploic appendagitis is retained and the patient was given medical treatment.
