Le radiologue en oncologie pédiatrique : comment améliorer nos compétences relationnelles avec l'enfant et les parents ?

An improvement in our communication skills is an obligation to better respond to the legitimate desire of patients and families for better information and optimal care. Many of the complaints and reprisals addressed against the medical profession result from insufficient information delivery or inadequate communication. Competence in communication skills can be acquired or reinforced by using specific training techniques for conducting interviews and applying the basic rules of communication. The protocols which have been proposed in the literature are primarily intended for the referring physicians, in particular oncologists. With regard to the improvement of communication skills among radiologists, a simple tool was developed to help the residents in pediatric radiology to memorize the main points of the patient-radiologist interaction. We propose a protocol, CREDO, more precisely appropriate for routine practice of medical imaging, in particular in oncology. This protocol can be applied to the practice of pediatric radiology.
