Classification and Imaging of the Degenerative Shoulder

Glenohumeral degenerative joint disease is condition that can cause significant pain and disability to the affected individual. Several possible etiologies have been cited in the development of glenohumeral degenerative joint disease, including primary osteoarthritis, secondary osteoarthritis from previous trauma or recurrent instability, rheumatoid and other inflammatory arthritis, rotator cuff arthropathy, post-capsulorrhaphy arthropathy, and avascular necrosis. The pathologic processes and the distinct radiographic and advanced imaging findings will be discussed in this article.
