Hallazgos autópsicos en fallecidos por cáncer de mama en el Hospital Universitario «V. I. Lenin». Provincia Holguín. Cuba. 1990-2005

Breast cancer is a major health problem all over the world owing to its high incidence and mortality. The clinical and anatomopathological causes of death in those who died of this disease and that were autopsied at the department of Pathology in Holguin General Hospital from 1990 to 2005 were reviewed. Invasive duct cancer was the histological type with greatest incidence on mortality. The clinical pathological diagnostic coincidence in the cause of death was 61.11% and bacterial bronchopneumonia was the most frequent clinical cause whereas the anatomopahological one was multiple metastases. The most frequent places of metastasis were lungs, liver, lymphatic ganglia and bones. The corroboration by autopsy of the disease facilitates the correct treatment of the patients with the disease and contributes to enhance the quality of life.
