Statut nutritionnel des enfants âgés de 0 à  36 mois admis au CHU de Sidi-Bel-Abbès (Ouest algérien)

The aim of our work is to evaluate the nutritional status of a population aged of 0 to 36 months hospitalised in the Hospital University of Sidi-bel-Abbes for different diseases. Analysis of the medical records and the complete examination of children affected show protein-energy malnutrition (PEM) signs, which are correlated to this pathology. For the majority of our patients, we have noticed a low socio-economic level. The anthropometric evaluation shows no change concerning growth for the age of 12 to 36 months. Also the Kanawati and McLaren index reveals a middle under-nutrition in the girls, and almost severe in boys. The biological dosages demonstrate a decrease in the following serum parameters: proteins, calcium, phosphorus and iron.
