Keratitis in Children as Seen in a Tertiary Hospital in Africa

Herpes simplex keratitis was the leading cause of keratitis in children seen at this tertiary hospital, and clinical presentations do not differ from those reported in other populations. Very poor visual outcome was associated with all types of keratitis except those with herpes keratitis. Blindness studies may underrepresent the burden of herpes simplex keratitis in the location of this study.
