Modelos animales de EPOC

Animal models of COPD or emphysema have been developed with distinct aims: to study morphometric characteristics, functional characteristics, or the application of diagnostic techniques, to serve as a bank for experimental therapeutic trials, and finally to support pathogenic studies of the disease through models of chronic tobacco smoke exposure aiming to simulate the conditions in which COPD is produced in patients. The present article reviews the characteristics of each of these models and the most significant results obtained.
