Trk and cAMP-dependent survival activity of adenosine A2A agonist CGS21680 on rat motoneurons in culture

► CGS21680 alone or with a PDE inhibitor IBMX supported the survival of motoneurons. ► The activity was inhibited by PKA inihibitor H89 and Trk kinase inhibitor K252a. ► This indicates the mixed effect of PKA pathway and transactivation of Trk receptor. ► Even in the presence of BDNF, AMPA shows excitotoxicity. ► Treatment with CGS21680 and IBMX protected motoneurons from AMPA toxicity.
