Partial involvement of NMDA receptors and glial cells in the nociceptive behaviors induced by intrathecally administered histamine

► Histamine (800 pmol) injected intrathecally induced nociceptive behaviors. ► The nociceptive behaviors were mediated by spinal NK1 receptors and NMDA receptors. ► The activation of NK1 receptors is caused by the released substance P from neuron. ► The activation of NMDA receptors is involved in the activation of spinal glial cells.
