Immunolocalization of aquaporin-6 in the rat retina

▶ In the rat retina, AQP6 immunoreactivity is localized to the outer plexiform layer. ▶ AQP6 co-localizes with glial AQP4 around ribbon synapses. ▶ Retinal blue light injury causes a disappearance of AQP6-labeled ribbon synapses. ▶ Light injury results in redistribution of AQP6 into the inner retina.
