Novel static composting method for bioremediation of olive mill waste

► Validation of a new procedure for static composting of olive mill waste (OMW). ► OMW composting was carried out in gas-permeable bags. ► Dimension of bags ensured adequate passive aeration and thermal inertia. ► The process led to “stable” and “mature” compost rich in humic substances. ► The system showed to be comparable to conventional composting procedures.
