Isolation and characterization of multidrug-resistant Klebsiella spp. isolated from shrimp imported from Thailand

► Imported farm-raised shrimp is a reservoir of multiple antibiotic resistant Klebsiella spp. ► These isolates are resistant to fluoroquinolone and tetracycline antibiotics. ► Fluoroquinolone resistance was detected in the quinolone resistant determining region ► (QRDR). ► Among tetracycline resistant genes, the isolates harbored tetB and tetD. ► Molecular techniques such as plasmid profile and PFGE were used to further characterize the isolates.
