Biological characterization of two marine Bdellovibrio-and-like organisms isolated from Daya bay of Shenzhen, China and their application in the elimination of Vibrio parahaemolyticus in oyster

► We show marine BDH12 and BDHSH06 belong to none of the known BALOs genera. ► Both strains display biological characteristics of typical marine BALOs. ► They lyse Vibrio parahaemolyticus, Vibrio cholerae and Vibrio alginolyticus tested. ► An elimination test shows their application feasibility in oyster safety control.
