Modelling the spray deposition and efficacy of two mineral oil-based products for the control of California red scale, Aonidiella aurantii (Maskell)

► The relationship between efficacy and deposition was modelled for 2 mineral oils on 4 California red scale (CRS) life stages. ► The relationship differed between the oils and the stages. ► The oil that provided greater coverage and impact size was not more effective. ► Greater coverage not always result in greater efficacy. ► 90% was the maximum efficacy that could be achieved for N1, N2 and N3 and 80% for PP.
