The use of citrus tristeza virus (CTV) containing a green fluorescent protein gene as a tool to evaluate resistance/tolerance of transgenic citrus plants

► Transgenic sweet orange plants carrying coat protein of citrus tristeza virus were obtained. ► None of transgenic orange plants were resistant to citrus tristeza virus following the graft challenging although in some plants presence of GFP-containing citrus tristeza virus was low. ► GFP-containing citrus tristeza virus allowed quick, easy, and precise determination of plants that are susceptible to citrus tristeza virus.
