Meiofauna in sandy back-reef platforms differently exposed to the monsoons in the Maldives (Indian Ocean)

► Maldivian sands resulted well diversified. ► Meiofaunal abundance and richness were strongly affected by erosion effects. ► General meiofauna was not able to distinguish the different sedimentation rates. ► Nematodes distinguished each type of hydrodynamic condition and energy level.
