Development of polymorphic microsatellite loci in Momordica charantia (Cucurbitaceae) and their transferability to other cucurbit species

► 11 Momordica charantia microsatellite markers were developed. ► High polymorphism of M. charantia germplasm cultivars was detected by SSR markers. ► Novel M. charantia SSR markers could be transferable to other cucurbit species. ► SSR could be a powerful tool for evaluating the genetic diversity of M. charantia.
