Subspace structure of Lorentz Lp,q spaces and strictly singular operators

We study subspaces of Lorentz Lp,q spaces and provide an easy-to-check characterization of strictly singular operators defined on these spaces. As an application we obtain stability under duality for the class of strictly singular operators on Lp,q spaces, extending a theorem of L. Weis for operators on Lp spaces.
