The onset of the assembly of Pangaea in NW Iberia: Constraints on the kinematics of continental subduction

► A piece of the Variscan continental subduction system is analyzed (NW Iberia, Spain). ► Consistent kinematic reference is obtained for the onset of the assembly of Pangaea. ► Data indicate Upper Devonian dextral convergence between Gondwana and Laurussia.
