Early Berriasian ammonites from Shal, Talesh region (NW Alborz Mountains, Iran)

► Berriasian ammonites are described for the first time from NW Iran. ► They mostly belong to the neocomitid subfamily Berriasellinae. ► The ammonites indicate the early Berriasian Berriasella jacobi Zone. ► Species are common in European and North African Tethyan successions. ► We describe the new taxon Taleshites fuersichi nov. gen., nov. sp.
