Reinterpretation of two diatom species from the West Greenland margin - Thalassiosira kushirensis and Thalassiosira antarctica var. borealis - hydrological consequences

► Diatom community off West Greenland is typical of Arctic spring blooms. ► Northern cold water species indicate increased meltwater influx (e.g. spring blooms). ► Temperate water species indicate decreased melting and ocean forcing. ► Temperate water species (resting spores) are linked to the West Greenland Current. ► Anti-phase pattern was identified based on diatoms (climatic trend vs water temp.).
