Temporal changes in ostracod assemblages during the past 10,000Â years associated with the evolution of the Red River delta system, northeastern Vietnam

► Eighty-five ostracod species were found in 169 samples in Holocene cores in Vietnam. ► We recognized three biofacies (A, B, and C) based on cluster analysis. ► Biofacies A is interpreted as open marine, B as marine and/or brackish, C as brackish. ► The ostracod assemblages are closely related to evolution of Red River delta.
