- The rate of TEA + ion transfer across the water/1,2-DCE interface has been measured.
- The rate constant is found to be 0.64 cm s− 1 using steady state voltammetry.
- A nanocapillary with an inlaid microdisc geometry at the tip is used.
- The measured rate constant is similar to that found using equilibrium techniques.

The rate of TEA+ ion transfer across the water/1,2-dichloroethane interface has been measured using steady-state voltammetry at a capillary with an orifice of nano-sized dimension. It is found that the average rate constant for TEA+ transfer from water to oil and from oil to water is 0.64 cm s− 1. The results are repeatable using the same capillary. This value is similar to that measured previously using electrochemical impedance spectroscopy and fluctuation analysis at the micro-interface.
