Handling packet dropouts and random delays for unstable delayed processes in NCS by optimal tuning of PIλDμ controllers with evolutionary algorithms

► Fractional PIλDμ controllers are tuned for Networked Control Systems applications. ► Random Network delays and drops are handled by Evolutionary Algorithm based tuning. ► Two classes of unstable processes are verified with the proposed tuning technique. ► Controller tuning problem has been cast as optimization of a stochastic function. ► Closed loop performance does not depend much on different random delay distribution.
