Response of heterogeneous cancer cells on targeted nanoparticles

The ABC-transporters of heterogenous Rh123low cells were responsible for free Rh123 efflux, but not Rh123 NPs efflux in specific cells. Following treatment of ABC-transporter inhibitor, the number of Rh123low cells decreased in free Rh123 while the number of Rh123low cells did not change in Rh123 NPs. The endocytic effect and targeted effect of NPs were beneficial for Rh123 NPs to avoid the dye-efflux pump in heterogenous Rh123low cells. The targeted effect of NPs played a more important role in overcoming cancer MDR.182
