Interaction of formal and informal financial markets in quasi-emerging market economies

► The paper investigates the interaction of formal and informal financial markets. ► A DSGE model with asymmetric information in the formal market is used for analysis. ► We find that interest rates in the two markets do not necessarily change together. ► We also find that loans in the two markets are complementary in the aggregate.
