► I survey papers on auctions with contingent payments, such as oil lease auctions. ► My benchmark model is based on DeMarzo, Kremer and Skrzypacz (2005). ► I describe a partial ranking of auction revenues for different contracts. ► Extensions include adverse selection, moral hazard, and common values.
