Past and future of the labor force in emerging Asian economies

► We investigate the determinants of labor force in 12 emerging Asian countries. ► We also make projections of labor force in those countries for 2010-2030. ► We find the earnings elasticity of labor supply is negative for men and positive for women. ► Labor supply is association positively with education and negatively with age. ► The labor force is predicted to increase in all 12 countries in the next 20 years, but eventually decline in several of them.
