Is there a gender gap in CEO compensation?

► We examine the compensation of male and female CEOs of US public companies. ► The sample is pooled from the years 1998 to 2010. ► We find no evidence of a gender pay gap at the CEO level. ► These findings are based on the total sample and propensity score matched sample. ► Prior evidence of a gender pay gap is due to limited samples and poor matching.
