Fluorescence enhancement of QDs could be obtained by silica coating when the gold core has large size. This enhanced fluorescence from the QDs-modified Au@SiO2 nanoparticles was demonstrated for sensing of Hg2 +, and the detection linear range of the Hg2 + concentration has been enlarged.139
