Thiourea functionalized CdSe/CdS quantum dots as a fluorescent sensor for mercury ion detection

Thiourea functionalized quantum dots (QDs) were synthesized by bonding thiourea to the core/shell CdSe/CdS QDs after capping with thioglycolic acid. Determination of Hg2+ was conducted based on the fluorescence quenching of the functionalized QDs upon the addition of Hg2+.
