Antioxidant and anticancer effects and bioavailability studies of the flavonoid baicalin and its oxidovanadium(IV) complex

A new baicalin (baic) complex with oxidovanadium(IV) cation Na4[VO(baic)2].6H2O has been prepared. The electron delocalization of VO with phenoxide groups produced higher antioxidant properties. The complex is neither toxic, nor mutagenic and displayed anticancer effects through oxidative stress mechanisms, suppressed by antioxidants. Bovine serum albumin can store and transport it.291
