NNpyC- and ONpyC-Pincers as functional ligands for palladium(II) complexes and assemblies

The alcohol unit within a ONpyC pincer, has been employed as a hydrogen bond donor to direct the self-assembly of dimeric palladium(II) complexes with metal···metal separations between 6.388 and 3.282 Å; conversely with the corresponding imine- or amine-based NNpyC pincer, discrete monomeric square planar palladium species are accessible.123
