Self-assembly of manganese(I) and rhenium(I) based semi-rigid ester functionalized M2L2-type metallacyclophanes: Synthesis, characterization and cytotoxicity evaluation

Mn(I)/Re(I) based M2L2-type metallacyclophanes [M(CO)3Br(μ-L)]2 (1 and 2, M = Mn; 3 and 4, M = Re) (1-4) were synthesized using semi-rigid ester functionalized organic spacers and metal precursor containing fac-M(CO)3 corners. Compounds 2 and 4 showed broad-spectrum inhibitory activity on few cancer cells in comparison to the cisplatin.124
