Fluoride and cyanide anion sensing by an Sb(V)-substituted cyclometalated Ru polypyridyl complex

Two cyclometalated Ru polypyridyl complexes bearing Sb(III) and Sb(V) substituents show different photophysical and electrochemical properties based on electronic effects of the peripheral Sb group. The Sb(V)-substituted complex displays Lewis acidity, which is utilized for sensing of fluoride and cyanide based on a colorimetric and electrochemical response of the complex.289
