Temperature dependence of production of structured triacylglycerols in the alga Trachydiscus minutus

Regioisomers and enantiomers of triacylglycerols containing C20 polyunsaturated fatty acids, especially eicosapentaenoic and arachidonic acids, in the alga Trachydiscus minutus cultivated at different temperatures were identified by mass spectrometry with reversed- and chiral-phase liquid chromatography. Both the proportion of the achiral TAG and the enantiomer ratio increase with lowering temperature.
