Elaeodendron orientale as a source of cytotoxic cardenolides

A series of natural cardenolide glycosides exhibited cytotoxicity against human cancer cell lines and selectivity on normal Vero cells higher than digoxin. Their stereostructures were elucidated by NMR and X-ray analysis.
