Lipase inhibitory and LDL anti-oxidative triterpenes from Abies sibirica

► From a Mongolian medicinal plant, Abies sibirica, seven triterpenes and 13 known terpenoids were isolated. ► The seven triterpenes had a γ-lactone ring with a lactol or derivative thereof. ► Two triterpenes had lipase inhibitory activity (IC50: 0.27 and 0.51 mM) in isolated mouse plasma in vitro. ► Five triterpenes were LDL oxidation inhibitors (IC50: 39.4-198.6 μM).
