Deamination role of inducible glutamate dehydrogenase isoenzyme 7 in Brassica napus leaf protoplasts

► The GDH7 isoform (α6) predominated in protoplasts isolated from B. napus leaves. ► Transcription and translation of GDH2 was activated to synthesize α subunits. ► Treating leaves with JA or SA also induced the formation of the GDH7 isoenzyme. ► The change in the GDH isoenzyme profile had no effect on ammonium assimilation.
