Phytotoxic clerodane diterpenes from Salvia miniata Fernald (Lamiaceae)

► This research is a part of an EU project aimed at identifying crops in Mediterranean agriculture. ► The genus Salvia is characterized by the presence of many bioactive constituents. ► Non-volatile Salvia extracts could contribute to its allelopathic activity. ► Ten clerodane diterpenoids have been isolated from Salvia miniata Fernald. ► Some diterpenes isolated from Salvia miniata had phytotoxic activity.
