Estrogenic and anti-estrogenic compounds from the Thai medicinal plant, Smilax corbularia (Smilacaceae)

► Forty five phenolic compounds were isolated from the rhizomes of Smilax corbularia. ► Eleven compounds were characterized their structures as new compounds. ► Flavanonol rhamnosides showed anti-estrogenic activity at a concentration of 1 μM. ► Acetates of flavanonol rhamnoside exhibited estrogenic activity at 100 μM.
