Dammarane-type saponins from Gynostemma pentaphyllum

► Seven gypenosides GC1 to GC7 were isolated from Gynostemma pentaphyllum. ► Gypenoside GC1 to GC7 structures were elucidated by analysis of 1D and 2D NMR spectra and chemical degradation. ► Gypenosides GC1 to GC7 are 2α,3β,12β,20(S)-dammarane-types (PPD-2-ol). ► Gymnemaside VI is reported from Gynostemma pentaphyllum for the first time.
