Phytoecdysteroids from the rhizomes of Brainea insignis

Five phytoecdysteroid glucosides 1-5 together with three known phytoecdysteroids were isolated from the rhizomes of Brainea insignis. Their possible biogenetic pathway is proposed and their chemosystematic significance is discussed.
