Absolute configuration of tropane alkaloids from Schizanthus species by vibrational circular dichroism

The (1R,3R,5S,6R) absolute configuration of four 3α,6β-tropanediol monoesters was deduced after either experimental vibrational circular dichroism (VCD) spectral comparison with density functional theory calculated spectra, or after using diagnostic experimental VCD bands in the 1150-950 cm−1 spectral region.
