The thaxtomin phytotoxins: Sources, synthesis, biosynthesis, biotransformation and biological activity

Pathogenic Streptomyces spp. responsible for the common scab of potato disease produce thaxtomin phytotoxins which cause necrosis in plant cells by inhibiting cellulose synthesis. Associated properties are comprehensively reviewed.
