Triterpene saponins from Silphium radula

The isolation and structural elucidation of nine polyhydroxylated oleanene and ursene triterpene saponins from the leaves and stems of Silphium radula (Asteraceae) are reported. Compound 2 exhibited cytoxicity in human breast cancer cell line MDA-MB-231 at 25 μg/ml.
